Reduce wait time at Bldg. 40 by 40%

The garrison is closing. Soldiers are transitioning. There’s no way around it: If you’re a Soldier or spouse, at some point you’re going to visit the Central Processing Center on Conn Barracks, more commonly known simply as “Building 40.”

Deborah Lawson, Schweinfurt’s Director of Human Resources, helps Soldiers and their families with diverse problems.

If you’re like me, then you don’t like wasting your time or having to wait in lines. Hello, this is Deborah Lawson and I am the Director of Human Resources. I see thousands of Soldiers and their families walking the halls of Building 40. Take it from me, there’re a few things you can do to reduce your wait time by as much as 40 percent.

  1. Come prepared. Research the necessary documents you will need to take care of your business. Find the majority of the information you need, like the required documents and where you should go, by searching The more you’re prepared, the quicker you’ll finish.
  2. Know your destination. We assist over a hundred Soldiers, civilians and family members each day by providing them with several programs and services catered to their needs. Know where you need to go and which department(s) you need to talk to prior to your visit. Don’t be that guy who realizes that he or she as an E6 or below should have seen the battalion S1 regarding re-assignment orders, instead of wasting your time at Building 40. When in doubt, ask someone.
  3. Ask questions. You can find the majority of the information you’ll need by searching The site has the contact information for different departments within building 40. Use it. Call ahead and speak to someone or ask questions about what documents are required before visiting.

To make an appointment, or to find more information about the programs and services provided at Building 40, call the Customer Service Desk DSN 353-8805, CIV 09721-96-8805.
